Individual Trajectories
Iara Duarte started dancing at the age of 6, training from an early age in Argentine tango and folk dances. She later incorporated studies in classical dance, contemporary, jazz, and musical theater. Her artistic journey is characterized by a strong stage presence, interpretive sensitivity, and a refined aesthetic search, where the body becomes a vehicle of emotion and storytelling.
From a very young age, she performed on national and international stages, establishing herself as a dancer, performer, and creator.
Jesús Páez began his journey in dance at age 6 within Argentine folklore, a discipline that deeply marked his artistic identity. Over time, tango became his main language, integrating folkloric roots, musicality, and theatricality into his interpretation. Esto es Tango:
Jesús Páez and Iara Duarte are creators, artistic directors, and choreographers of the company and orchestra This is Tango, an integral scenic project that proposes a cinematic, poetic, and profoundly Argentine view of tango.
It is not just a show, but a conceptual work where live music, singing, dance, and theatrical staging merge to tell stories woven by identity, love, pain, and beauty. Aesthetically set in the 60s, with a strong inspiration from classic cinema and musicals, the work transforms everyday and emotional moments into tango scenes of great visual impact and artistic sensitivity.
As directors and choreographers, Jesús and Iara conceive each scene as a unique emotional piece, working together with a typical orchestra, singers, and dancers, paying attention to aesthetic detail, body dramaturgy, and narrative coherence.
